Parenting

A couple of days ago, Meredith comes to me in the kitchen and says "Mama? Mama, what's 'douchebag' mean?"

CJ was absolutely dancing with joy behind her, this utter glee seeping from every pore at his unbelievably good fortune that such a spectacle was unfolding in front of him.

Then Meredith goes "...Tim told me to ask you"*, and then the children experienced their first real taste of schadenfreude.

*There was a competitive cooking show on television, and one of the contestants had used the word. Tim thought it best that I handle it.

  2. Not too long ago we'd talked about "douche" meaning "vagina cleaner". So I referenced that conversation and told her it was the part of the container that held the fluid which would do the cleaning.

    Just the facts, ma'am!

She said what she usually does when she gets answers to icky questions: "OHMAHWARD I'm sorry I asked!"

  3. "OHMAHWARD I'm sorry I asked!"

In my house, it's AC running from the room, hands over her ears, hollering "TMI! TMI!"

    Heh.
